"That is the way you should feel your whole life."
Although a Young-Adult book, ‘Paper Towns’ by John Green has its own shades that wraps its readers, irrespective of their age, into its own delights.

A tried & tested teenage love story, between Quentin Jacobsen & Margo Roth Spiegelman, this book offers something that we all love: Friends, their stupid jokes & silly sense of humor, love that feels like ’Forever’, & a long road trip. And also high school dramas, prom & graduation. This book ends with a turn that leaves its readers feeling void, yet HAPPY!
Filled with ‘Oh-that’s-so-me!’ moments, a deep insight into this wonderful book, which has its movie adaptation coming this summer, gives us a few life lessons. Here are the five amazing things that we can learn from ‘Paper Towns’:

1) Life’s a Journey. Enjoy it!

Be it the journey of around 20 hours, from Orlando to Agloe (Roscoe) with Q, Ben, Lacey & Radar, or the adventures of Margo, the high school dramas, or the emotional conflicts that they faced everyday, it all depicts the beauty of life. The characters in the book screams ‘Life is for living!’, audible only to those who want to ‘LIVE’ their life & not just spend it.

The troubles, the joys, it’s all a part of our life. The best thing about bad times is that they pass away quickly. So instead of brooding over things, blaming people & circumstances, we all should face the bright side, and live each day as if our last.

Remember, “Keep your face always toward the sunshine - and shadows will fall behind you.”

2) We need friends

Lets face it, most of us’ lives would be plain boring & spiceless if it weren’t for some weird people. Friends, they are there for us every time we need someone. They understands us. They share our sadness, rejoice in our joy and give us stupid advises & make us forget the real problems.

Some of them live in their ‘me-land’ all the time, some are book worms, while others are simply pain-in-the-a*s. But at the end of the day they’re the same people without who the idea of life seems impossible. So cherish your friendship with all such amazing people.

Ben: "I can feel the pee all the way up to my ribcage. I am honestly full of pee. Bro, right now, seventy percent of my body weight is pee." #LOL

Another fact, they’re many people who just don’t like having friends (yep, there are such people). The list of reasons can be endless. Horrible past filled with treacherous friends, maybe?! They like the idea of being all by themselves & going the distance all alone. So if you’re one of such people, fret not! For you, nobody can be as good of a friend than a BOOK. Yes, a book- a ‘no demand-no complain’ companion that would be with you till the last of your breathe. If you don’t already love reading, start loving it. You will find yourself in a whole different world surrounded by some amazing characters.

"A great book should leave you with many experience, and slightly exhausted at the end.
You live several lives while reading it."

3) ‘Never judge a book by its appearance’

An old age advise! Don’t judge someone on the basis of their outward appearance. There are people who would laugh in front of everyone, act cool & pretend they just don’t care about things. But they are the same people who cry the most, feel alone in a big crowd and care about everything & everyone. Contrary to everyone’s’ belief, they don’t just love partying with everyone all the time. Rather they are the people who dream about long walks on endless-isolated stretches.

On the other hand, there might be someone who spend their time all alone & looks boring. But they could be the most fun-loving person one could ever meet. So never see someone & tag them with ‘cool’ ‘fun’ ‘boring’ ‘weird’ or ‘awesome’. Most of the time, you would be wrong. Remember, make opinions (& keep them to yourself) not judgments.

"Just remember that sometimes, the way you think about a person isn't how they actually are."

4) Live freely

People, today, are swarming in personal & social responsibilities & unimportant obligations. They are busy doing ‘things’ that they feel are important. But in reality, these ‘things’ could not be more petty.

We are so accustomed to what we do everyday that many of us have accepted it as our fate. Very few daring ones challenge these unnecessary tasks & routines, and live the way they want to live. They do things on their own terms. And when they come face-to-face with any obstacles, they never loose hope.

So if you’re one of those people who are so caught up in their daily routines & have no time doing things that you want to do and living your life the way you want to live, then MAKE A MOVE. The timing couldn’t be any better. Ditch all responsibilities that you find insignificant, cut loose all those relationships that are holding you down, & punch all those obstacles that stand on your way. Go outside, scream in joy for your new found freedom & set out on a path that you’ve always wanted to discover.

"It is so hard to leave—until you leave. And then it is the easiest goddamned thing in the world."

5) Create your own path

In conjunction to the last point, never wait for any situations or circumstances to change before you take any decision. People have lived & died waiting for that circumstance to change. They never change! You have to make that first move. Period.

And while making that move, there would be times when you will find yourself all alone. No friends, no family. Pretty scary image to be honest. But don’t let these fears stop you. People will try to bring your spirit down. As a matter of fact, your own consciousness will doubt your choices, it will question your every decision. DON’T LISTEN. Start that new business,
propose to that person, go on an adventure, go on that long vacation. Just do something!!!!

Remember, ‘Walk alone, if you must’. You will be proud of yourself when you’ll be on your deathbed.

"Nothing ever happens like you imagine it will. But then again, if you don't imagine, nothing ever happens at all"

"As long as we don't die, this is gonna be hell of a story"
